Overview

The State Fair Event Center is the only facility in Southern West Virginia that can offer over 40,000 square feet of covered, indoor exhibit space all with restroom and kitchen facilities. Whether you have been charged with planning your company’s annual business meeting, educational seminar or corporate conference, we’ve got the solution for you. Our facility is also perfectly suited for weddings, anniversaries and reunions.

All pricing includes:

  • Set-up Day; receptions, reunions and private parties will receive one set-up day. Larger public events, such as trade shows, will receive two set-up days. Additional set-up days can be reserved for an additional fee.
  • Tables and chairs to accommodate 200 people. (Inventory to be assigned based on date that rental was confirmed)
  • Maintenance and staff support as needed. (Additional charge may be billed for some events)
  • Free parking
  • No catering or outside vendor restrictions (list of referrals available upon request)

Commercial caterers must hold a current and valid “Caterer’s License”. ALL entities providing food in buildings should contact the Greenbrier County Health Department, (304)-645-1787, for current guidelines and food safety information. Check the WVDHR website for additional information.

Livestock Facilities

The Event Center has various other facilities and equipment available for rental throughout the year:

Cecil H. Underwood Youth Center

The Cecil H. Underwood Youth Center enjoys a prominent location on the State Fairgrounds. Your guests will appreciate the brick courtyard and covered portico as they enter under the gracious clock tower.

East Wing

East Wing - Cecil Underwood Youth Center

The East Wing of the Youth Center showcases carpeted flooring, drop ceilings and easy access via walk-through doors. In addition to the amenities of the East Wing, the Cecil H. Underwood Youth Center provides heating & air conditioning, making this building a great choice no matter what season your event is held. You will also find a small kitchen area, office space, complete restrooms and a sound system. Past events in the East Wing have included: auctions, trade shows, business meetings, receptions, fundraisers and more. The State Fair Event Center also makes available outdoor tent rentals to compliment your function. With 4,750 square feet of space, you will be able to comfortably accommodate 240 guests with tables and chairs.

West Wing

West Wing - Cecil Underwood Youth Center

The West Wing of the Youth Center showcases exposed beams, concrete floors and easy access via walk-through doors, or use the spacious overhead door. Just like the East Wing, you will also find a small kitchen area, office space, complete restrooms and a sound system. Past events in the West Wing have included: auctions, trade shows, business meetings, receptions, fundraisers and more. The State Fair Event Center also makes available outdoor tent rentals to compliment your function.

Gus Douglas Annex

Located conveniently inside Gate #2 of the State Fairgrounds, the Gus R. Douglass Annex, is ideal for many events. Boasting multiple offices, conference rooms and 4,000 square feet of exhibit space, the Gus R. Douglass Annex is a perfect choice for trade shows, business seminars, auctions and more. You will also find the comfort of heating & air conditioning, complete restrooms, a large kitchen with serving counter, and multiple electrical and phone outlets. Guests will also appreciate the comfort that the wrap around, covered porch offers during “break” time. The rustic wood interior of the exhibit space provides a warm and comforting touch for more casual affairs.

Planners and guests alike will appreciate the easy access they’re provided with both walk-through and overhead door entrances along with ramp access near the front entrance.

Blue Ribbon Center

Blue Ribbon Center

The charming red metal roof and covered porch of the Blue Ribbon Center provides guests with a warm and inviting “Welcome!” Guests considering the Blue Ribbon Center will find, heating & air conditioning, large kitchen with roll-up serving window, complete restrooms, office space, sound system and large windows offering natural lighting. The amenities of the Blue Ribbon Center lends itself to reunions, social affairs, auctions, small business seminars and more. Planners and guests will both appreciate the ease of access that walk-through doors and a spacious 14’ x 10’ overhead door provides. You’ll find the Blue Ribbon Center a great choice no matter the season.

West Virginia Building

West Virginia Building

The West Virginia Building is our largest facility, offering 20,000 square feet of usable space. Concrete floors and easy electrical access throughout provides for great versatility with this space. Guests considering the West Virginia Building will find a kitchen with serving window, office space, complete restrooms, sound system, easy access through overhead and walk-through doors and heating for cooler temperatures. Should you require more space, the Gus R. Douglass Annex is located conveniently next door. Past events in the West Virginia Building have included trade shows, competitive exhibits, auctions, fundraisers and formal gatherings. With the ability to accommodate up to 1,000 people with tables and chairs, or 110 (10’ x 10’) booth spaces, the possibilities are endless.

West Virginia University Building

West Virginia University Building

Visit the State Fair Event Center’s newest rental facility, The West Virginia University Building.  This facility boasts over 3200 square feet of usable space. Complete with heating & air conditioning, your guests will always be comfortable.  There is an operable wall in the middle which may be used to divide the usable space in to two 2000 square foot sections.  Perfect for breakout sessions or small training groups.

Guests of anniversary parties, reunions and small weddings will delight at the chance to mingle on the covered porch area.  Meeting and party planners will enjoy use of the full kitchen and convenient restroom facilities located within the West Virginia University Building.

Paved walk ways leading to the building and easy access parking make this building ideal for all guests.

Administration Building & Conference Room

Administration Building Conference Room

The Administration Building Conference Room is conveniently located through Gate #2 of the State Fairgrounds. Offering convenient parking and easy access off of Route 219 South, this space is perfect for small meetings and training seminars. Guests considering the Conference Room will find heating & air conditioning, restrooms, phone, computer and electrical access, as well as a brick patio perfect for breaks and outdoor meeting space. Drop ceilings with ample lighting and carpeted flooring keep your meeting professional.
Consider the Conference Room for your next weekday meeting or training seminar. With 750 square feet of space, you will be able to comfortably accommodate 40 people with tables and chairs or up to 60 people with chairs only.
