State Fair Announces Six Additional Concert Events

LEWISBURG, WV (04/15/2010)(readMedia)– Six additional concert events have been announced for the 2010 State Fair of West Virginia.

Boys Like Girls will perform, Friday, August 13, at 8 p.m. The band is known for it’s hit song “Love Drunk” the title track to it’s most successful album, and the less raucous and tender ballad “Two is Better Than One.”

FMX Championship Series Motocross will be featured Sunday, August 15 at 1 pm and 6 pm.

Jason Aldean with special guest Easton Corbin, will perform Wednesday, August 18, at 8 pm. After selling two million copies of his first two albums, topping the charts with five smash hits, racking up award nominations and hitting every stop on the requisite “new artist” tour circuit for the last three years, country rocker Jason Aldean is running full throttle into Spring. Having just wrapped his first full and very successful headlining tour, he’s prepared to leverage that momentum with the release of his highly anticipated third album, Wide Open. Like his heroes Strait and Whitley, Easton Corbin is unapologetically country. His songs, while rooted in the present, call to mind simpler times when the back porch was where folks gathered to network. Steel guitars and fiddles are as much
a part of his sound as his baritone drawl.First single, “A Little More Country Than That,” which was written by Rory Feek, Don Poythress and Varble, paints a picture of rural life that speaks to Easton’s small town sensibilities. “Even though I didn’t write it, this song identifies who I am,” he says. “It shows character and that’s important where I’m from. You learn to say ‘yes, ma’am’ and ‘no, sir,’ and to open the door for the ladies.”

Combining raw riffs with big hooks and vocal harmonies, Hinder take their cues from rock legends like Aerosmith, AC/DC, KISS, and Guns N’ Roses, and update them with modern guitar sounds. They will perform Friday, August 20th at 8 pm. Their triple platinum debut Extreme Behavior documented the decadence and strained relationships of these retro rock juggernauts, whose subsequent cover of Steppenwolf’s “Born To Be Wild” for NASCAR last year was a natural extension of their lives on the road. Thanks to hard work, steady touring, and strong video airplay for their balladeering ode to infidelitous intentions, the crowd-pleasing “Lips Of An Angel,” which gets arena audiences singing along, they eventually sold three million copies of Extreme Behavior.

Two concert events will be free with paid gate admission. Monday, August 16 will feature gospel greats, The Shaffers, from Belington, WV, The Squire Parsons Trio with special guest Ernie Phillips, and Gold City. On Tuesday, August 17 at 8 pm the The Tams and The Embers will bring their brand of beach music to the State Fair grandstand.
