LEWISBURG, WV (06/25/2013)(readMedia)– The State Fair of West Virginia’s bi-weekly flea market will be changing locations during the Greenbrier Classic PGA Golf Tournament. For the dates of June 29, July 2, July 6 and July 9, the flea market will be moving to the northwest corner of the main fairgrounds near the livestock barns. Starting time will still be 7 am.

The bi-weekly flea market always features a unique array of items ranging from antiques to local, fresh produce.

State Fair of West Virginia Box Office Now Open and Offering Discount Tickets

LEWISBURG, WV (06/25/2013)(readMedia)– The State Fair of West Virginia’s box office is officially open! Don’t miss your opportunity to purchase discounted tickets for the 2013 State Fair of West Virginia! Discount tickets are on sale through the website, by calling ETIX at 800-514-3849 or through the State Fair box office from June 26 through August 3. Box office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets are also available through participating BBT locations, Walgreens Pharmacy locations, Greenbrier Medical Arts Pharmacy locations, Union Pharmacy and Western Greenbrier Pharmacy starting July 1 and ending July 31. Gate admission discounts include an $8.25 adult ticket (13 and older) and a $7.25 youth ticket (ages 6 to 12). Carnival discounts include a $25 Mega Pass, which is valid for one day and includes 12 hours of unlimited rides (11 a.m to 11 p.m.)! The $20 Big Pass includes six hours of unlimited rides (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and is valid for one day. Individual sheets of carnival tickets are available at $10 for 15 tickets. Enjoy “$5 After 5 p.m.!” where gate admission on Wednesday August 14 and Thursday August 15 is only $5 after 5 p.m.! Gate admissions are sold separately from all concert and carnival tickets. Gate admission for children five years old and under is free.

Concert tickets are available for all shows and may be purchased via the website or the State Fair Box Office. Concert tickets are not offered at a discounted rate. Tickets purchased online and through ETIX are subject to a convenience fee.

Governor Tomblin Appoints State Fair Advisory Directors

LEWISBURG, WV (06/25/2013)(readMedia)– Governor Tomblin recently announced eight appointments to the State Fair of West Virginia Advisory Board of Directors.

Four members were reappointed to a new four year term: Rod Stoner, Lewisburg, WV, President, Rod Stoner, LLC; Sharon Rowe, Lewisburg, WV, SHR Consulting, LLC; Bob Williams, Grafton, WV, State Senator 14th District; and Ellen Goodwin, Lewisburg, WV, Retired Vice-president Development – WVU Alumni Association.

New appointments include: Mike Kidd, Lewisburg, WV, Manager/Partner Radio Greenbrier; Jeff Vickers, Lewisburg, WV, SVP, Chief Lending Officer, First National Bank; Daniel Robison, Morgantown, WV, Dean WVU Department of Ag Forestry; and Robert Allen, Union, WV , Attorney at Kay, Casto and Chaney, LLC.

Advisory Director appointments were made in consultation with Commissioner Walt Helmick, West Virginia Department of Agriculture. Directors participate in monthly board meetings and serve in an advisory capacity with a focus on sharing the mission and goals of the State Fair of West Virginia with West Virginia’s statewide business community. State Fair of West Virginia Now Accepting Livestock and Home, Arts and Gardens Entries

LEWISBURG, WV (06/17/2013)(readMedia)– Livestock and Home, Arts and Garden entries have officially opened for the State Fair of West Virginia! Paper entries for Home, Arts and Gardens and Livestock are due July 9th by 12 NOON, while online entries are due July 12th by 12 NOON.

Don’t miss out on several new contests in the West Virginia Building this year, including the “Next Big Fair Food” contest, the “Gluten Free is the Way to Be”contest and the “Instagram Magic” photo contest.

As usual, fair week will be full of a variety livestock shows, including open horse shows on both weekends.

GOLD-LotFor fair fans who want to visit multiple days, our new Gold Lot preferred parking is perfect for you! The lot is conveniently located off Fair Street and ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the proceeds are being designated for our Scholarship efforts!

The State Fair of West Virginia is pleased to offer a variety of discount ticket options for fair fans! New for 2013:

  • Mega Pass and Big Pass can be used on ANY ONE day of the fair.
  • A $5 Food Coupon Book will be sold through the State Fair’s Box Office (includes One coupon for EVERY food concession!
  • Reserved Parking Available in the GOLD LOT just off Fair Street. $100 for one reserved space for the entire week of the fair with 100% of proceeds going to the State Fair’s Scholarship program (phone 304-645-1090)
  • Enjoy Magic Monday with First Energy – bring 3 non-perishable food items and pay only $25 to get into the fair, ride unlimited carnival rides from 11 am – 11 pm and see the FMX Motorcross Show
  • $5 after Fives will be available Wednesday, August 14 and Thursday, August 15
