Donate Food To Win State Fair Grandstand Tickets

To call attention to the growing problem of the critical shortages of nonperishable food items in food banks across the country, the State Fair of West Virginia has donated tickets to Radio Greenbrier (home of WRON, WKCJ and WSLW) for free concert tickets. The State Fair of West Virginia will be held August 12-20 in Fairlea.

Four winning packages will be drawn for two admission tickets and two grandstand show tickets to the following shows: Jamey Johnson and Lee Brice, Friday, August 12; The Band Perry, Monday, August 15; Chris Young and Steel Magnolia, Tuesday August 16; and Buckin’ B Bull Riding and Colt Ford, Saturday, August 20. The four winners will be announced and contacted on Monday, August 8.

To enter, bring a nonperishable food item to the Greenbrier, Monroe, or Pocahontas USDA Service Center to receive a ticket to be placed in the drawing. Multiple entries are permitted. Service centers are located in Lewisburg on Northridge Drive (between the Bank of Monroe and the Shell station on Route 219 North), in Union on Route 3 East (one mile from Union), and Buckeye on Route 219 (south of the Marlinton Middle School).

The nonperishable items may be donated through Friday, August 5. Recommended items include canned fruits, multigrain cereals, canned proteins, 100 percent juices, healthy snacks, canned vegetables, soups, condiments, and paper products (napkins, paper towels, toilet tissue).

All food collected will benefit local food pantries through the Feds Feed Families campaign.
