LEWISBURG, WV (04/20/2011)(readMedia)– Three additional entertainment events have been announced for the 2011 State Fair of West Virginia!

Chris Young and Steel Magnolia will perform in the State Fair grandstand on Tuesday, August 16 at 8 pm. Tickets are on sale now! Get your ticket today.

With an ear toward the past and an eye on the future, Chris Young has quickly distinguished himself as a newcomer who honors country music’s best traditions while adding a fresh, new chapter to the genre’s legacy. With his rich, warm baritone and penchant for writing relatable, slice-of-life songs, Young’s sophomore project, The Man I Want to Be, is an album that has launched back-to-back #1 singles – with the title track and “Gettin’ You Home” – while showcasing a new traditionalist poised to take his place among his musical heroes. Follow up singles have included, “Voices” and “Tomorrow” which sits at #20 on the Billboard Country Music charts. Steel Magnolia, featuring Joshua Scott Jones and Meghan Linsey, became a household name when they won season 2 of CMT’s “Can you Duet?.”
In the year since winning the show, Steel Magnolia has gone on to win over many more influential fans and supporters. Their bracing take of “Keep On Lovin You” by country soul powerhouse Chris Stapleton broke through as the highest charting debut single by a co-ed duo in Billboard history. The song garnered more than a million downloads and landed in a major motion picture. Josh and Meghan spent the summer of 2010 touring alongside Brad Paisley on his massively popular H20 Tour. And even before the release of their debut album, Steel Magnolia snagged nine major industry award nominations, including Vocal Duo of the Year at the CMA Awards. No wonder then, that you’re seeing Josh and Meghan on every “Whom To Watch” list in country music.

Two special grandstand events will be offered free with gate admission. The popular FMX-US Freestyle Championship Motocross is set for 8 pm on Wednesday, August 17. On Thursday, August 18, The Tams and legendary Percy Sledge, will perform at 8 pm.

State Fair manager, Marlene Pierson-Jolliffe, states, “We’re excited to add an additional country concert to our lineup and look forward to the popular motocross show. The Tams rocked the State Fair grandstand last August and the addition of Percy Sledge is sure to be an awesome night of entertainment at a great value!
