LEWISBURG, WV (03/14/2014)(readMedia)– The State Fair of West Virginia is pleased to announce the awarding of five (5), $1,000 four-year scholarships to youth who have participated in the State Fair, excelled academically and demonstrated a financial need.
2014 award recipients and the schools they are attending are:
Alison Bartenslager, Lewisburg, WV, Lincoln Land Community College, Springfield, IL (Recipient of the third annual Gus R. Douglass Scholarship)
Alex Gillespie, Lewisburg, WV, West Virginia Institute of Technology, Montgomery, WV
Jessica Hoover, Franklin, WV, West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV
Robert Snedegar, Lewisburg, WV, Wheeling Jesuit University, Wheeling, WV
Nancy Yates, Wardensville, WV, West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV
This scholarship is funded through the State Fair Endowment, which was created in 2006 to ensure the long-term support of three key areas; Scholarships Career Advancement Initiatives, Youth Educational Enrichment Programs and Agricultural Competitive Exhibit Premiums.
Scholarships will be awarded during the 2014 State Fair.
