State Fair to Introduce New WV Farm Fresh Pavilion

LEWISBURG, WV (05/16/2011)(readMedia)– The State Fair will premiere its newest agriculture attraction in August. The WV Farm Fresh Pavilion will showcase West Virginia grown agriculture and livestock.

The goal of having a pavilion dedicated to West Virginia grown products is to encourage fairgoers to buy from local markets. A different theme will be used each day of the nine day fair with the themes as follows: poultry, honey, lamb/llama, fish, swine, beef, fruit and vegetable, dairy, and goat.

Each themed day will feature demonstrations and informational presentations to illustrate how agriculture impacts everyone’s life on a daily basis. State Fair Special Events and Concessions Manager Randi Nikolas said the pavilion, “will serve as a live demonstration area for gardening, culinary activities and informational sessions that tie in with the present Master Garden area.”

West Virginia made products will be sold at a small market place in the pavilion and Thank-A-Farmer will provide daily entertainment with magic shows for children of all ages. The State Fair, the Department of Agriculture and the WV Extension have teamed up to bring the Farm Fresh Pavilion to the fair.

The pavilion is located at the former Heritage Village Marketplace at the North end of the fairgrounds and will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the fair.

The 2011 State Fair is themed “It’s All Here” and is scheduled August 12-20. Named a Top 100 event by the American Bus Association, the State Fair is a 501 © 3 non-profit corporation committed to the traditions of agriculture, family entertainment, and education.
